The Mimic Monster
It happens faster than you can react - the bridge buckles beneath you with a mighty clattering. Its boards pull apart in the center to reveal a cavernous jaw; its rivets blink open into slitted yellow eyes. You're caught in the mouth of a mimic monster!
The mimic releases its hold on the sides of the gully and drops straight down. You half-expect a jolt when it reaches the creek bed, but none comes. In a panic, you look up and realize the creek bed ended abruptly just under the place the mimic had planted itself. A waterfall cascades down from above into the the depths of the chasm.
You're falling a very long way...
